Community
Economic Development Programs
Community Build is dedicated to community economic revitalization
through the physical improvement of our neighborhoods. We are currently
engaged in a number of commercial projects at varying stages of
development, the goal of which is to provide well designed, high-quality
commercial space to attract businesses, provide needed services,
and bring in excellent employment opportunities.
Another of Community Builds developments, a 5,000 square
foot Youth Center located at 87th Street and Vermont, was renovated
with the assistance of youth participants, many of whom now use
the skills they acquired in their current employment.
Community Build is also actively involved with civic groups, neighborhood
associations and other such grassroots organizations in its community
economic development efforts. For example, our involvement with
the Leimert Park Merchants Association led to the creation
of a new tradition in that community: the Leimert Park Village Tree
Lighting ceremony. Another example of this kind of cooperative effort
is a current joint venture project with the Vermont Knolls/Vermont/Manchester
& Vicinity Neighborhood Association. Together, we are working
on a proposal to build a 10-acre commercial development at Vermont
Avenue and Manchester Boulevard.

| One such commercial
development project in Leimert Park. Located on a corner where
a market was burned out in 1992, this 15,000 square foot development
will house businesses, which service the local community and
its residents, as well as house corporate offices. |

| The commercial
development project is completely leased and has a garden and
park area. The garden and park area design has become a signature
element of all Community Build locations. |
